Comparison Essay

             I have a passion for reading and writing, although I am not the most talented in writing, I do enjoy it. However, I can think of many people off the top of my head that are tremendously skilled at both. Stephen King's "On Writing" essay is a perfect example of a great piece of work written about the goal of creating excellent literature, generated by a superb author. I have learned that in college, I must become acclimated to reading about reading, and writing about writing. This is where I have learned to take something seemingly useless, and force myself to benefit from it, in fear of wasting time. "The Great Imagination Heist" written by Reynolds Price, is yet another essay conducted with the objective in mind to persuade people to want to read and to give them the motivation to write. "On writing" and "The Great Imagination Heist" are both compositions by fabulous authors that can be compared and contrasted in many ways. The preeminent reason for comparing and contrasting King and Reynolds' works is I want to reveal the uncanny similarities of the views of two well respected, but completely different people.
             One of the most obvious comparisons between Stephen King and Reynolds Price's work is their true love for reading and writing that is blatantly displayed. It seems to me that their words to live by would be "You must live well to write, and write well to live" –Anonymous. For, I have seen no greater passion, than that of Kind and Price in their essays "On writing" and "The Great Imagination Heist." Stephen King said,
             I'm a slow reader, but I usually get through seventy or eighty books a year, mostly fiction. I don't read in order to study the craft; I read because I like to read.
