Describe three types of child maltreatment. The first type of child maltreatment is physical abuse. It involves any harm to thechildren's bodies, which can be bruises, burns, or injuries. There are four phases that sexually abused children go through "(1) secrecy, (2) helplessness, (3) entrapment and accommodation, (4) delayed, conflicted, and unconvincing disclosure, and (5) retraction" (Berns 162). The last type of child maltreatment is psychological or emotional abuse, which an adult nonphysically attacks the kid by rejection, corruption, ignoring, and terrorizing. It involves when a person forces the child to have sexual contact with him or her and adults exposing pornographic material. It hasn't affected me to become violent nor will I do the same to my children but we were very fortunate to not be abused in other forms such as being kicked, burnt, shaked, and so on. As we got older, my dad has never hit us anymore because the American culture influenced ours. The cause of psychological abuse by parents is usually by their own psychological problems, which were transferred by their own parents. Parents don't often stop and think of what they say before it is said and can dramatically affect the child. For example, when a parent gets angry and says, "I wish you were never born!" Another example is when a parent takes no interest in their child's activities thus resulting into isolation. Touching or stroking lovingly and oral stimulation are common forms of sexual abuse which the majority of adult males are more involved in than adult females. I strongly hate sexual abusers because children are so vulnerable, inexperienced, and so innocent. The second type of child maltreatment is sexual abuse.
