             A comparison between 'The Times' and 'The Sun' newspapers and the use of the English language:
             This is a comparison between the two newspapers 'The Times' and 'The Sun'. The Times newspaper is quite large and bulky, has more supplement newspapers including, sports, business, money, travel, health edition and weekend review. There are four more additional newspapers.
             'The Sun' newspaper is a standard size and not bulky with a small sports supplement, TV guide and lots of advertisements.
             The layout of 'The Times' newspaper is professional, detailed and uses the English vocabulary effectively and efficiently. The impression I got was that this is an educational newspaper covering a wide selection of topics and provides news locally as well as internationally. At the foot of the front page is displayed the contents with the page numbers of the newspaper. I found the supplements very detailed and targeted specific areas and people. The writers are specific in the information they provide and appear to be knowledgeable in their content.
             In the following quote ' Mr Bigley was probably sold for up to $250,000(£150,000) to Abu Musab al-Zarqawi by those who seized him, but no amount of money would buy his freedom, Canon Andrew White, who left Baghdad this month because of fears for his own life, said' the writer covers more ideas in his paragraph by using complex sentences. The writer also uses many paragraphs to describe his article.
             The following quote 'By my local supermarket, I sat down and wept.' This is an example of a compound sentence used in 'The Times' newspaper, which tells me there are two ideas in that sentence.
             All the headings and the sub headings use polysyllables. An example is 'purchases spiralling as buyers disappear.'
