Crusading for Animal Rights
As an animal lover I don't like to see any animal get hurt in any way shape or form, therefore I think animals should have rights too! Animal right is a philosophy that claims animals should have rights or interests equal to those of humans. (Levine, 9) Some people cannot possibly see or even think that animals can have right too because animals are so much different than us humans. And yes it is common since that animals shouldn't have the right to vote but that's a given. People should give equal consideration to the interest of animals as they do to that of humans. They shouldn't be experimented on, or hunted down even though we eat meat, or killed to make fur coats, and what about being held captive in Zoos and Aquariums even though in most times they are treated right and with respect their still locked up, in other words don't you think they feel like their in "jail?" shouldn't they be returned to the wild to roam free? In 1824 the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) was founded. Now there are groups worldwide, from Colombia to Australia. Fiji to the Czech Republic that protect for the most part all animals. (Rochford, 24) What is an animal experimentation? It's where scientific researchers use a
Others see it as a pointless destruction of beautiful animals. According to the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), over twenty-five million cats and dogs are born in this country every year. They were kept under the same conditions as with laboratory animals today. Almost half of those end up in shelters or pounds and over half of those pets in shelters are put to sleep or killed. Then in 1993 Hazel O'Leary released documents concerning the Secret Government experiments, which consisted of eight hundred radiation experiments on humans in the late 1940's and early 1950's. Since our world creates problems for animals, shouldn't it be our responsibility to look after them?. We would not applaud humans who hunt other humans. Animal conservation is the preservation of a species so that it has sufficient resources to survive. The public opinion is against this type of testing because it is seen as cruel and unnecessary. In some states pounds cannot provide animals to laboratories. Some see hunting as a way of being part of the natural order of things. (Day, 90) Then, from 1932 to 1972 there was the Tuskegee Experiment. Most all cosmetics are not required to be experimented on animals, yet they're millions each day even though there are alternatives. (Day, 88) In the Nazi Experiments they examined, then killed and dissected twins, thinking it was a perfect opportunity to learn everything about their similarities and differences.
