"Where do you want to go to school?" "What do you want to do with you life?" "Who do you want to be?" As a 17 year old in her senior year of high school I am plagued with these questions daily. While growing up I went through all the stages of wanting to be an actress, a doctor, and a princess. Now, the road to becoming a "princess" is a long and grueling one. Once deciding that I wanted to one day attend law school I was staring at 7 to 8 years of school. The challenge now was determining what I wanted with the next 4 years of my life. Besides the stressful wait for an acceptance letter, I feel that my stress about picking a college and future, for the most part, is over. I became very aware of our country and the battle it fights with itself and other countries. I found this topic to be very entriguing. NC State was also the kind of school I was looking for, large, public university, with tons of school spirit. After a month of researching colleges and majors I found one school that had the major I wanted. Besides my love for politics, I also love the french language. I then decided that politics was in my future. Working in France one day would be more than a dream come true. Many of my classes consisted of discussing topics such as abortion, the war, and diversity in education. Governor's School challenged me to think outside of my box and be introduced to many new beliefs and ideas. I believe that I am on my way to becoming the "princess" that I want to be. Talking about the issues our country faces made me want to help fight for and against these topics. International Politics was my new found future and major.
