There are many reasons on why I like being female. It is a major part of my life and defines who I am. Yet when given this assignment, I will not lie, my mind went blank. The first answer that popped into my head was because it is who I am and I am either going to have to like it or live my life hoping I was someone I would never become. Still brainstorming over reasons that I could come up with for this four page essay, I took it upon myself to question a few of my female family members. The answer to my question became a lot more clearer than. Although their answers do vary because of their huge age differences, I am pretty sure enough that every female at the same age level would have had a similar answer. In this essay I plan on discussing the responses I had received from my answerers as well as my own personal thoughts.
             To begin my questioning process I first decided to confront my nine year old sister. I said, "Chrissy, why do you like being a girl?"She said, "Well I like being a girl because that means I can be a virgin." Obviously I had to explain to her that being a virgin had nothing to do with being a girl because guys can be virgins too. I questioned her again. Her response this time was, "Being a girl means we can wear pretty dresses and play with make-up all the time." My sister's answer is true. At birth baby girls are immediately cleaned off and wrapped in a pink blanket. While young children, little girls play dress up and do each others hair with a variety of accessories. Games like this are fun for us at a young age. Girls do like to enhance their beauty in any many ways. Even at older ages women are fond of having their day of beauty at the spa with manicures, massages, and pedicures. It is natural for us to want to pamper ourselves. Who else deserves it more than a woman?
