American vs. Import Sports Cars

Automotive technology today continues to fascinate consumers across the world. Sports cars are perhaps the most recognized automobiles on the planet. Nothing can compare to the sights and sounds of a sports car as it passes by you on the expressway with its quick burst of speed. Imports, or foreign sports cars, are becoming increasingly popular in today’s automobile market. With the number of American consumers driving Hondas, Nissans, BMWs, and Mercedes, the reputation of imports is becoming more and more encouraging. Because of the widespread belief in the dependability of foreign sports cars, they have become popular among many buyers. Another idea that favors imports is their ability to be modified, which has become especially popular among younger drivers. But what happened to the great American sports car? Well, they are still around. In fact, they too are becoming increasingly efficient and popular among several interested buyers, making the automobile (sports car) market extremely competitive. What people need to know about sports cars is that nothing in the world can compare to an American V-8 or V-10. Imports are by no means more exciting to drive, nor worth the extra money to purchase and maintain. American

. . .
This is because American car manufacturers are significantly more widespread and thus more competitive than import manufacturers, so better prices and better value is offered. The owner of the car does not have to spend all the extra time locating a dealer or service department that specializes in foreign cars. The sound of chirping tires and smell of burnt rubber at every stop light is a great satisfaction. The difference between owning a black Dodge Viper or a black Ferrari 360 is significant in this situation. A number of significant differences are evident when comparing American sports cars to import sports cars.

A number of reasons provide evidence in the advantage of owning an American sports car, price and driving excitement are merely a few. Parts are an extreme rarity for such cars, and consequently are much more expensive. While the Corvette sells for approximately $50,000, the RS6 sells for an unattractive $82,700. There are also fewer maintenance specialists with the knowledge and ability to service these cars, resulting in a greater cost for maintenance. Knowing this, American cars should have no trouble outlasting foreign cars.

Anyone who owns a sports car knows that the excitement the car offers is conceivably the most important feature of the car. Although the sports car market is extremely competitive, American cars appear to have the advantage in the competition. Each car is similar in features and performance; the Corvette pumps out 405 horsepower and 400 lb/ft of torque, while going from 0-60 miles per hour in 4.
