This book was about a group of friends that play golf and gamble all day at theworst golf course in America (they call it Ponky). One day one of them proposes a betto see who could be the first one to play in the Mayflower, the golf course next door. This wasn't easy because the Mayflower is one of the best courses in America. SoTwo Down, Dannie and Raymond each put in $1,000 to see who could play the coursefirst. What everybody doesn't know is that Raymond's father belongs to the club. ButRaymond hasn't spoken with him for years after he tortured his other son, whoeventually committed suicide. Raymond wasn't going to call his father until it becameabsolutely necessary. All three had many good ideas, but they all failed. Finally, allthree of them landed tee times on the final day of the bet, but not before they raised thestakes another $1,000 each. Raymond was forced to call and play with his father, buthe did win the bet. Things weren't the same between the friends after the bet andRaymond didn't like it either. Then Two Down got into some gambling trouble. TwoDown made a crazy bet with a man who he was down to, to play 18 holes, nine at the
At the end of a chapter he could be talking about somethingto do with golf and at the beginning of the next chapter it was like the book hadnothing to do with golf and all it talked about was his brother or father. What was he thinking? With the guards that they have there, he had a better chance ofgetting caught than getting away. And when they were playingthe nine holes at each course, the author came up with some pretty smart and funnyideas for things that happened. When I say this I mean that because if this was anyother regular old book, the first bet would have lasted the whole book and it wouldn'thave been as interesting. I think that one of the reasons I liked it was because it was so funny. As stated earlier, Ray does a lot ofmoral things in this book. He lied about his qualifications for the job and evenmade up a fake name that he took the job under. Even though he does a good amount of moral things in this book, they are certainly outweighed by the number of immoral things that he does. Secondly, Ray is an immoral person because he fails to display the value of wisejudgment. Another thing that was funny is that on a normalday, all they did was gamble, play golf, gamble, drink and gamble some more. "My first reaction wassinister, nobody else knew my father was over there. I know it is not easy to forget the deathof your brother, but it doesn't mean that he can't talk to his father, or play golf once ina while. They were not afraid to use a fakename or sneak into the club and play around at night. Then he tries to recover actual pictures of him cheating. It didn't matter if he were lying, cheating or makingand ass out of another person, he chose wrong and he failed miserably to display thesevirtues.
