There are several key reasons and strategies that outline its success. They include Starbucks' focus on creating a brand name that provides a coffee experience similar to what Schultz noticed in Italy, selling products that were unfamiliar to most Americans, and setting a very well thought-out and aggressive growth agenda.
             Bringing to Americans the coffee shop experience was a new opportunity and being the first to capitalize on this opportunity gave Starbucks a major advantage. Many details of how the company set out to deliver its product had never been seen in this country. The company served several different types of premium quality coffee. This gained the interest of coffee lovers as well as brought in newcomers who were interested in the specialty of specialty coffee. Over time this established regular customers. In addition to the premium quality coffee, Starbucks tacked on a threshold of service that gave the shop a welcoming feel. Early on the company established a culture where their baristas are pleasant and responsive to the little details that establish regular customers. For example, knowing what a regular customer likes to drink and making sure the shop is always clean are just a couple of the these little details.
