Surviving military training

To me, an army of one means a large group of people working together as one complete unit. I am happy to say that I am apart of an army of one because of the intense training I had to endure. I'm proud that I survived my military training both mentally and physically.
Surviving my military training was mentally difficult because that was my first time away from home for a long period of time. The total time of my military training would be 22 weeks, 9 weeks for basic and 13 weeks for AIT. The first couple of weeks of my training, I was extremely busy so I didn't have enough time to think about home. But when I was homesick, I'd write letters and call home as much as possible, sometimes I'd sneak on the phone on weekends and call home. When basic training was completed and it was time to be processed into my advanced individual training, we had to wait for two weeks for Christmas exodus. Going home for Christmas while in training was a great thing for me because I finally had a chance to see my loved ones after an extended period of time.
Staying in shape was apart of the military standards I had to pass. Some of the physical standards included a physical fitness test, which consisted of 55 push-ups and 68 sit-ups in two minutes. Shooting 23 out of 40 targets at a range 50 to 300 feet was also one of the many standards I met. This standard was the most difficult because I never fired a weapon, and I was afraid of the kick back of my weapon.
I'm proud to say that I survived a long, intense military training. Not only have I overcame my fears, I showed myself that I can take any challenge that comes my way.
