The United States is currently being faced with hundreds of tragic problems that greatly affect our nation. These days there are so many, that it is very challenging to choose just three. I decided to do some research on the Internet and figure out which challenges are the most important to young people like me. Sadly, I found young people to relate to most of the negative things going on in our world today. Being that I had to choose just three, I decided upon suicide, drugs, and AIDS. These three issues greatly affect thousands of teenagers, young adults, and also everyone else as well.              Suicide among American teens and young adults has become a very big problem over the last four decades. While suicide rates in the U.S. are generally higher than developing nations. Suicide is now the ninth leading cause of death in the United States. Unfortunately, it has become the third leading cause of death among adolescents. In the United States teen suicide rates are highest in the Western states and in Alaska. I strongly believe that the United States needs to work hard to try and resolve this problem. If we educate our youth to help them express them selves and teach them ways to deal with their feelings other than ending their lives we can make a huge difference.
             One factor that may lead to suicide can be coming from a divorced family. These types of family problems can often lead an adolescent down a path of bewilderment and confusion. Another factor may be family income. A teenager may feel as though he or she is not worth anything if his or her family does not have enough money.
