Science and Faith
" An intelligent modern person cannot have faith in a power which is not knowable through human senses and/or reason. It is trust in human achievement through science alone that marks the truly enlightened person today." I do not think I have ever been able to disagree with a statement so firmly. This quote just proves how narrow minded some people may be and those who believe in this are unfortunately the ones that are setting the whole human race back a few notches. We need now more then ever the guiding wisdom of religion. Ignorance s only one of the factors in which is not helping in the conflict between science and religion. It has gradually become clear to me that without some new kind of faith, more related to current times than the old gods, we are nothing. All the arguing, debating and stubbornness is causing a barrier for both. The result is a weakening of the mind, spirit of humanity, and in total faith in society. We can no longer have the arrogance to confine God in exchange for our comfort. If we worked to remove these roadblocks, both science and faith could make great progress at a much faster rate. Many Christians have been so caught up in the debate between creationism and evolution that they have missed the theme of the Bible altogether. We will improve our understanding of God if we improve our understanding of that which he created. He must be bigger, higher, more loving and more pursuing of our hearts than we can possibly imagine. The scientific method can be a way to understanding the Universe and provides a partial picture. Faith, and faith alone, can provide an individual with a sense of direction and purpose that allows him to regard his own existence as something more than a meaningless ripple in the huge chaotic ocean of humanity. We can have no real knowledge of God's character but you can only know God by faith. They are in a special and privileged position to see first-hand the brilliance with which God created through whichever means he chose. We should not fear science, because in doing so we kill the minds he gave us. d who assures the good of happiness in another life.
