How Hollywood Films Treat the Themes of Invasion and Mass Destruction in a Cavalier Way.
             I agree with the author's claim that Hollywood films treat the themes of invasion and mass destruction in a cavalier way. We have been so conditioned to believe that movies are just for entertainment, yet they send out such strong messages to people out there depending on how one receives and interprets it. I agree by all means that Hollywood treats most of its movies in a very cavalier way, because most of their directors are just out there to make more money, they regard this issue of Invasion and mass destruction as something of no importance or significance. We as "movie goers" and the rest of the public have come to accept that what we see on the big screen is pure fantasy and it will always remain on the screen -We have come to accept in a way that it will never be part of our reality. We are taking terrorism lightly by the movies that we are shown, by what their directors have to say and as a public we have accepted what is thrown at us by our devoted commitment of attending these movie theatres every week.
             The author Seitz introduces certain movies that Holly wood has made over the years; films that worship the lone hero (or heroes) who can save the whole world with a bit of skill and luck that they possess The author targets movies such as 'Die Hard with a Vengeance, Air Force One, Con Air and many more.' He shows us how movies like "Air Force One," a film set in the real world, involving a Chief Executive whose plane is hijacked by Russian madmen because he declared war on terrorism, ends with president Harrison Ford kicking chief bad guy out of a cargo hold at 20, 000 feet after growling, "Get off my plane." This movie shows the a sample of what terrorism is and what it can be, but at the same time they have changed the whole meaning behind what terror is and made it into a joke. Harris
