Favorite Teacher
I can remember back now when the summer after 5th grade was about to end. It was once again time to find out who my 6th grade teacher would be. A much anticipated drive to the school was over and I quickly ran out the car to the postings on the wall. With my fingers crossed and hands trembling I ran them down row by row. All summer long I had my heart set on being in Mrs. Gellman's class for history and science. She was the "cool" teacher not only for her kind hearted approach but her innovative learning techniques. To my delight, I, along with several of my friends, had been placed in her class. This was the year I had been waiting for.I have always loved science. Whether it was discovering how life on Earth began in forth grade, dissecting my first animal in the fifth grade, or crime scene investigations in my senior year, everything about science has struck my interests. No one has had more of an influence on my passion than my sixth grade science teacher Mrs. Gellman. While teachers past and present have ignited my passion Mrs. Gellman not only furthered my interest in the sciences, she g
Taking every lesson one step further, she knew exactly how to keep kids interested whether it was a lecture or a field trip. Gellman gave every lesson some pizzazz. Gellman was the one person who really prepared me and my classmates for what I like to call the "danger zone," or life outside of the protective elementary school settings. That is exactly what an exceptional teacher should encourage in his or her students. Her passion never wore out and day after day it was easy to see that she loved what she did. I use her teachings and morals in my everyday life and apply everything I learned from her in and out of the classroom. Gellman refined my intellectual interests by giving me the scope to increase my interests. She was atypical in countless ways due to her realistic approach to education. From building our own Indian camp grounds to visiting the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum and gazing over thousand year old mummified bodies, Mrs. She also played a role in school activities by being a leader of the science program, she was the women's basketball team head coach, and helped out with many of the other school activities such as field days and dances. Gellman to consider her on of the most significant teacher's in my years of education.
