Lord of the Flies
In a society of different cultures and divergent morals, human beings have to learn how to come together and work as a whole, rather than unitary. William Golding delineates this in the Lord of the Flies. In this story, there are multitudinous quantities of societies that represent the contraries of Ralph’s and Jack’s way of thinking. Throughout this story, the society of the island and the society of our everyday lives are brought together as one to emerge all of the evils that are going on in the societies all around us. In the Lord of the Flies, and in the real world, there are many prejudices that are floating around our societies. In societies of different racial backgrounds and contrastive childhood citations, many of us forget that we are all the same inside, as do the children in Lord of the Flies. The human race frequently tends to forget this and everything ends up in a fracas. Jack and Ralph are constantly at each others throat, trying to gain the mainstay and attenti . . .
“The rock struck Piggy a glancing blow from chin to knee; the conch exploded into a thousand white fragments and ceased to exist. I was with him before anyone else was. They needed to do this and make consequences for those who didn’t follow the rules. We do have an established government to keep the civilization in order, as in the book, they have numerous governments alive. “Sit down!’ “Shut up!” “Take the conch!”- pg 89 As there are similarities in this book to the real world, there are many differences. Many times throughout the book, the leader figures are fighting over who gets to talk to the rest of the group. We, as people, just want to be heard and have a voice in society. “ I was with him when he found the conch. Their tribes should have never broken up, alas, no one would have gotten killed. ”- Piggy, pg 24 “We don’t want you, three’s enough”-Jack, pg 24 In society today and in this book, there are many similarities and actions that relate to each other. Jack and Ralph’s society would have been better if they had come together and planed out what had to be done with or without the help of adults. Then the sea breathed again in a long, slow sigh, the water boiled whiter and pink over the rock; and when it went, sucking back again, the body of Piggy was gone. The leaders scuffle over who will get the conch and who will be able to speak first.
