role of sexes

Roles of the Sexes The submissive role of the femalein a marriage or relationship is a common problem inmany societies, including our own American society. This role has become so common that in fact it is nowexpected of the female. This male dominance goes asfar back as the human race, to the beginning ofrelationships and marriage between the female and themale. Then, the physical prowess of the male led tohis dominance in all situations and thus formed theseroles. Even presently, with all our advances in equalrights and women's' advances in the work fields, thisrole of submission and passivity is still presentamong our society. Why do women accept this role? Whyhasn't it banished with the right to vote and herexpansion into the male-dominated workplace? Theseroles are inbred into our society. The men are raisedto lead and take charge. Women, on the other hand, aretaught that their place is to keep peace, and in mostscenarios that means conforming. There are manyreasons women accept or allow this role. Her mother passedaway, and Eveline was left to assume the role oftaking care of her siblings and the household. And the times he isgood, he is really kind. Theyoung wife is described as slim and adolescent. As the story continues, she begins to see this darkerside of him. This fear was so strong that she would ratherresign to the male dominance. While he sleepscomfortably, the wife is awake, supporting his head sothat he may be comfortable. She sawthis as her way out, as a way to change her situation.
