What's In A Name?
Adam, a name that seems to have no boundaries. This seemingly ordinary name dates back to the beginning of mankind (biblically). However, everyone seems to have there own definition of what origin it is. The most common being the Hebrew version meaning "Red earth". But not everyone shares this same view. Others claim the name to be Phoenician in origin meaning nothing more then "Man", as well as the Jewish community, which says Adam was the name of the first man on earth. A survey was taken which asked random people what they thought about the name Adam. Interestingly enough, the survey got quite a bit of different responses, not to mention with a surprise twist at the end of their interview. In this survey, a combined total of ten people were interviewed. Two Caucasians, two African American, two Hispanics, two Asians, and two Jewish people made up the respondents of the survey. Each group of two consists of one male and one female perspective, within the age group of eight-teen to twenty-one. When the poll was conducted, the interviewee's name was concealed to ensure truthful answers. A series of questions were asked to each participant which consisted of the following:1. What's the first thing you think
Which generation would you consider this name to have originated from?) as well had three out of five males that claimed the name Adam originated from the first generation of mankind. What kind of feelings do you feel when you hear the name Adam?), again only had one out of five woman answer positively to the question. It seems that my name is in danger of extinction. [MALE] If you could change your name, what would be the chances of it being Adam?4. Such measures were conducted to enable a complete and realistic response from each person. Which generation would you consider this name to have originated from?), four out of five females clamed that the name Adam was first introduced to us at the beginning of our human race. Would you ever consider naming anyone of your kids Adam?6. However, there was one male who did say he felt sorry for anyone who was named Adam, but offered his own opinion in changing the name. What's the first thing you think about when you hear the name Adam?) , only one out of five women had a positive response towards the name Adam. What's the first thing you think about when you hear the name Adam? ;2. In conclusion to the survey, I have realized that no one wants to name theirs kids Adam, regardless of good or bad experiences, no one seems to like it. Would you ever consider naming anyone of your kids Adam?), four out of five strongly despised the fact of taking or giving their child the name Adam.
