Vouch for Education

For wealthy families, sending their children to private schools is often times a way to show off how much money they have, but, for a family who earns less than average yearly income, it is more of an opportunity for their kids to get a better education, and to be in a safer environment. This is where school vouchers come into play. School vouchers are groups of people who try to get the government to help low income families by giving their children financial aid towards going to a private school. Just recently the government had a debate on whether or not school vouching should be legal, or if it is a bad idea. Yes, it should be legal for many reasons. First of all, vouchers help lower class families to be able to afford to send their children to private or parochial schools. Each year, the government gives out scholarships to these children that range from about two to four thousand dollars per child. This helps their parents out significantly. Vouchers will also help by trying to get private schools to accept these children. They believe that if it is in the children's best interests to send them to a private school for better education, then it needs to be done. When whole classes are failing a certain subject yea

On September 30, 2000, 20/20 interviewed a mother that lived in Florida and was not satisfied with the education that her six year-old daughter was getting at her public school. A main reason why some parents want to send their children to private schools is so they can learn better manners, and learn how to respect others while they are not at home. Facts show that public schools have a higher rate of misbehaving and abusive children then private schools do. Many government officials have said that school vouching should not be legal because of the fact that it takes students away from public schools, thus weakening them. This is mainly because the teachers are less punishing, and don't use their authority over their students at some public schools. Now, if only the rest of the states would follow in the footstep of the Florida government and schools. With vouchers, parents decide whether their children will go to secular or religious schools; and if religious, then from witch religious tradition and of what intensity (Douglas Laycock). This would cause families to only strengthen their faith in God and in their faith, even more. Florida spends on average about $5,000 to educate each child every year (ABC News). Also, government officials claimed that it was unconstitutional for teachers to lead public school children in reciting "one nation, under God," but that law is soon to be vetoed. This is where the government jumped in and paid for her daughter's tuition at the private school. This gave the mother reason to want to send her daughter to a nearby private school, which many unfortunate parents have done, just so she could get the best education that she could. Many schools will base this answer on how well students do on standardized tests. Vouchers don't only help families out financially they also help them out socially. With many ideas, though, there are opposing arguments.
