Macbeth vs Lord of the Flies
History has shown life's mercilessness with the strongest surviving. In this game of survival, dishonorable tactics are used to climb the ladder swiftly with aspirations of attaining the pinnacle of power. Honesty and morals must be a mere memory if personal profits are to be achieved at a rapid pace. As a result, corruption and ruthlessness grows variably with the desires and cravings that haunt a person's psyche. Both Macbeth and Lord of the Flies give insight to the fact that greed engulfs people into malicious tyrants with the characters that are portrayed within these two novels. Thus, Jack, from Lord of the Flies and Macbeth, from Macbeth have both shown the world a crucial lesson that power and ambition are the root of all evil, as they carried out unethical action to achieve and maintain their respected goals. Each author, with immense captivation, portrays his respected characters with noble beginnings unadulterated of any corruption. Ambition has not yet overwhelmed the minds of these two respected characters, which therefore, gives them a chaste disposition. Jack from Lord of the Flies is introduced to the reader in a "holy" aura with the description of his choir; " Their bodies, from throat to ankle
30-33) In fighting for his ambitions, Macbeth has made murders a routine, as the evil in hand seems to be perfectly normal in his eyes. "The castle of Macduff I will surprise; Seize upon Fife; give to the edge of the sword his wife, his babes, and all unfortunate souls that trace his line. In order for the unethical measures to be fulfilled, evil manifestations are fully needed to erase the souls of the offenders. Arguably the most defenseless member of the group in Lord of the Flies, Piggy's death brought supreme dishonor in Jack's reign as leader. (Golding 168) An angelic figure, Simon is brutally slain as Jack led all the boys to a demonic trance that led all reason go. (Golding 141) In forming this new group Jack receives the full-blown power that he has yearned for. The way that our modern civilization is set up Macbeth and Jack could be considered the norm. Macbeth receives titles of nobility and influence as Thane of Glamis and is recently appointed Thane of Cawdor. Like things trying to look like something else ---' " (Golding 68) Concealing their human temperaments, Jack and the hunters developed savagery that was initiated by evil. As a result, each character is embedded in a root of dissipation that will rule over their lives infinitely even after all their ambitions have been accomplished. Each holds substantial power over some aspect of civilization. In order for this dream to become reality both Jack and Macbeth listen to the dissipation that frequently rouse their minds.
