Young adults are not ready to deal with the responsibility of drinking when they have the right. The average age kids began drinking is 12. 4 million kids have reported drinking within the last year. College is viewed as liberation because they have easier access to alcohol. If 18 year olds do not have the opportunity to even a beer in a public place, they are not ready to deal with the responsibility that comes with drinking when they do have the right. It is legal for 18 year olds to drive cars, fly airplanes, marry, pay taxes, vote and risk their lives for our country but they cannot legally drink a beer. Foreign countries should be a role model for the United States. But the rate of alcoholism and alcohol abuse is lower.
