William Jefferson Clinton was a candidate of the democratic party. He was born on August 19, 1946, in Hope, Arkansas. Although he was defeated in his campaign for Congress in Arkansas's Third District in 1974, Clinton was elected Arkansas Attorney General in 1976, and won the governorship in 1978. He entered the election of 1996 as the reform party. He was an unsuccessful candidate for Vice President of the U. in 1976, and for the Republican Presidential nomination in 1988. Running under Dole as vice president was Jack French Kemp. In the following decades Perot became known for his international and philanthropic concerns. Dole was also elected as a Republican to the Eighty-Seventh Congress and to three following Congresses. He is best known as being the Majority Leader of the Senate.
