Prom
Prom is supposed to be one of the best nights in a young persons life- eating, dancing, post prom- it's what every young man dreams of. No amount of dreaming or preparation could protect me from what was about to happen. It was my junior year of high school and Cheryll, my girlfriend of three years, and I had been talking about prom all year. She was starting to piss me off because we never planned anything. We were (and still are) the biggest procrastinators in the world. Somehow we managed to plan the entire day one week before prom. I had not even picked out a suit yet because she had not found a dress. So my father and I drove to Gary, Indiana to find me a suit. Since she was taking too long I was going to get a suit and make her find a matching dress. Finally she calls me, while I'm in the store, and tells me that the color of her dress is red and she would be wearing silver jewelry. Perfect timing. I was browsing the store and found a silver shadowed suit. I snatched it off the shelf and looked at the tag. My waist was a 48, the pants... were a 44. I had to get it. It was the only one they had in stock. I ran to the dressing room and tried to button the pants, but the button would not go through.
I fell to the ground my face and hands covered in blood. We reached the city limits at about 3 o'clock AM. "CRUNCH! CRASH! POW! SCRAPE!" I woke up and we had driven between a pole and a five-foot thick pillar. I hopped out and started screaming for help. I was sure to be the cleanest dressed young man at the prom. The ambulance came and we were headed to the hospital. When I got back to Freeport, I called and told her what I had bought. We were matching but I was still pissed. We walked into the dance and the party began. We left Lino's and headed toward the prom. We were headed toward the post prom, but Cheryll decided that she did not want to go.
