Religious Gods

             There are hundreds of religions present in the modern world today. The differences in these religions are very distinct, but there is one thing that ties them all together: the presence of a higher power. Because there are so many differences in these religions, people may think that the differences in divine powers would be just as great. But in reality, there aren't as many conflicts in ideas as one may think. In analyzing three very different religions: Muslim, Jewish, and Catholic, we find that the differences between gods may not be as immense as we may think.
             In Muslim culture, there is one god: Allah. Muslims will not call Allah "god", or "lord" as a way to separate their religions from Jewish and Christian religions. Another word in Muslim culture for "Allah" is "Assamad", which means absolute existence. Allah is pure and unique, with no specified gender. No one can forgive sins or answer questions except for Allah. He's loving, powerful and wise. Allah provides men with food, drink and the necessities of life. There Muslims use three words to describe Allah: "Ar-Raheem", meaning most merciful;
             "Ar-Rahman", meaning most gracious; and "Ar-Hakeem", meaning most wise. There is only one god in Muslim culture, because as they see it, the moment that you can imagine or compare anything to god, he is no longer god. Allah is unique, and all attributes point to him, and never to anything or anyone else. For example, Neil Armstrong is known worldwide as the first person to walk on the moon. That is a unique characteristic about him. Allah is like that. Allah also does not take human form, and nor should he. The Muslims believe that Allah should not possess any human qualities, or else he is not god; he would be a "god-man", one of the Muslims' holiest men.
