Religious Gods
There are hundreds of religions present in the modern world today. The differences in these religions are very distinct, but there is one thing that ties them all together: the presence of a higher power. Because there are so many differences in these religions, people may think that the differences in divine powers would be just as great. But in reality, there aren't as many conflicts in ideas as one may think. In analyzing three very different religions: Muslim, Jewish, and Catholic, we find that the differences between gods may not be as immense as we may think. In Muslim culture, there is one god: Allah. Muslims will not call Allah "god", or "lord" as a way to separate their religions from Jewish and Christian religions. Another word in Muslim culture for "Allah" is "Assamad", which means absolute existence. Allah is pure and unique, with no specified gender. No one can forgive sins or answer questions except for Allah. He's loving, powerful and wise. Allah provides men with food, drink and the necessities of life. There Muslims use three words to describe Allah: "Ar-Raheem", meaning most merciful; "Ar-Rahman", meaning most gracious; and "Ar-Hakeem", meaning most wise. There is only one god in Muslim culture, b
ecause as they see it, the moment that you can imagine or compare anything to god, he is no longer god. The god's are all forgiving, loving and powerful, wise, merciful, eternal, immanent, and perfect. In Christianity, "God" literally means "supreme reality". Although the Muslim and Jewish cultures believe in only one god, the Christians believe that that one god is present in Himself, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Another name for him is YHVH, or "Yahweh". The Jews, like the Muslims, believe in an all-powerful god. God is all forgiving, loving, and perfect. Yahweh is above everything, uninvolved in daily lives of his people. There can be no comparison between Yahweh and anything else. All of the god's names are symbolic for supreme reality, absolute existence, and a lord and leader. Allah also does not take human form, and nor should he. God is present in everything, every object and place on earth. For example, Neil Armstrong is known worldwide as the first person to walk on the moon. God is said to take human form in a complex manner. Every god also makes no mistakes, he is above the law of physics, and he foresees all of eternity.
