M'Eclipse

My windows were down, and the breeze from the road felt nice on a hot day. I slowly depressed the pedal to the floor, so my clutch seemed to be operating correctly. The clutch had worn out earlier, and I had waited an agonizing month and a day while it was in the shop. My 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse was back on the road, and I felt good. I had little on my mind as I rolled up to a red light at the intersection of Highway 79 South and Margarita Road in Temecula. I was waiting in the outside left turn lane heading eastbound, unaware that what I would do next would affect the rest of my life. An Eclipse of the same model year of mine pulled up beside me in the inside left turn lane. Once he completed his stop and we were side by side, he decided to rev his engine. I answered his unspoken question by revving my engine, too. I knew the light would turn green in a short moment, so I gripped the steering wheel tightly. I had my car in first gear with my left foot throbbing on the clutch pedal and my right foot anxious to hit the accelerator pedal. I was ready for the light when it came, and I took off as soon as the green arrow lit up. I realized that I was quickly gaining vantage over my opponent, and began to gain a decent di

I walked to a gas station close by and bought brake fluid for a temporary fix. I needed to adjust my shifting, because my clutch pedal became incredibly loose. I felt surprised when I realized that my car overtook his, considering that his silver Eclipse was adorned with AEM cold air intake stickers, so I figured that his car would be faster than mine. That fluid had drained out of my vehicle when the clutch slave cylinder busted, allowing the fluid to escape. I no longer cared that I lost the race, I was more concerned with the grinding noise, and whether there was a crucial problem with my car or not. I paid $300 to replace my clutch slave and master cylinders, which are each basically about the size of a tennis ball. I agreed, so we headed over to our starting line. I turned my engine off, and took a well-needed break to relieve the stress. At this time, the sound and performance of my car hit rock bottom. My car was able to last until the Ralph's parking lot without complete malfunction, because it took some time for all of the clutch fluid to drain out. To my misfortune, I discovered that my car wasn't sounding the same way it was before. I don't get urges to race anymore, and I take good care of my car. After paying for repairs on my vehicle, I still do not regret the hassle I got myself into, because I feel as though it made me a better person. I had not damaged the motor; it seemed to be just fine.
