War on Terror: How Far Will We Go?
The war on terrorism that the United States military citizens are fighting in Iraq has lost its main purpose, fighting terrorism. Bush sent our troops to Iraq to search for and destroy Saddam's weapons of mass destruction (WMD), but our military has yet to find anything. The most the war has accomplished is ridding Iraq of its dictator, Saddam Hussein. Bush claims he was misinformed about the WMDs, that he received false information which led to thousands of our men and women being sent overseas. Bush now plans to set up semi-permanent U.S. military bases in Iraq to maintain key strongholds. Senator John Kerry has a rigorous plan to get the war overseas finalized and have our troops out sooner. The key question is, however, how far are the candidates willing to go to end this war? The war was initiated by the acts of terrorism on the United States on September 11, 2001, but has now become pointless. According to Bush's National Security strategy, he believes that, as the world's most powerful nation, we in the U.S. have an obligation to help make the world a more secure and peaceful place. He plans to "recruit troops from our friends and allies for a U. Until that point, I don't see the reasoning in keeping our loved ones gone from home for so long. President Bush believes that the world isn't right until it is the way he wants it. military personnel deaths in Iraq are increasing every day. Bush urges us to "consider the historic gains made by promoting freedom" ("Defending American Lives"). In reality, only about 5,000 soldiers have been fully trained. For example, Bush won't send medical aid to countries that support or allow abortion. Recruit thousands of qualified trainers from our allies, especially those who have no troops in Iraq. Kerry's plan to complete Operation Iraqi Freedom and bring our troops home includes these four major points:* Internationalize, because others must share the burden;* Train Iraqis, because they must be responsible for their own security;* Move forward with reconstruction because that's an important way to stop the spread of terror; and* Help Iraqis achieve a viable government, because it is up to them to run their own country. Not one of the 32,000 uniformed police has completed the full twenty-four-week field-training course. " We have our own country, with its own needs. com is 1054 soldiers as of September 30, 2004.
