Milton tries to explain the meaning of virtue in his writing with the hopes that Parliament will heed what he is saying. He wants everyone to understand that man, no matter who the person is, has a choice in determining which road to take. t virtue was and did not want to hear any explanation. “He that can apprehend and consider vice with all her baits and seeming pleasures, and yet abstain, and yet distinguish, and yet prefer that which is truly better, he is the true warfaring Christian” (Milton 778). This choice gives man the chance to say no to evil and choose to do good.
