Teaching Natural Selection and Evolution

Many people have heard of all kinds of theories that explain our reason on this planet. Evolution, Natural Selection and Intelligent Design are the three most popular and most debatable. All three of theses theories should not be given equal treatment when they are taught to students in biology classes. In life you assume that the word theory means a guess, a hunch or a maybe so, but when you start taking biology classes you learn the scientific meaning of the word theory. The scientific meaning of the word theory is an explanation of aspects of the world that can be supported with facts, and laws. These are hypotheses that have been tested and proven correct. Students should be taught only scientific theories, and how these facts are proven correctly. Students should learn the explanation of facts they observe in every day life. The next paragraphs will explain why evolution and natural selection should be the only theories educators should teach students.

Evolution is one of the most active fields in biology today and needs to be taught to all students in biology. It is the theory that God created all living creatures and the earth. Scientists have proven this wrong with evidence. Students need to be taught that evolution can also explain how certain drugs that worked in the past do not work as effectively now. In the past the church also said that the planets revolved around the earth. All living creatures have to adapt to the living environment around them. Intelligent Design is an opinion and should not be taught to students, if a family wishes to push this theory on their kids it should be taught in their homes or in church. Take the animals on the Galapagos Islands for example; these animals are different from the same animals on the mainland. Evolution is not just an inference it is a well-supported theory. This is because the environment is different and only the species that survive through natural selection will survive. Intelligent design supporters also says the earth is not as old as scientists have proven it to be, with testing the chemicals in rocks. This can be supported through fossils found in the earth.

Natural selection is another scientific theory and goes hand in hand with evolution. Students take biology classes to learn the truth not something somebody made up a long time ago.
