Years ago, the stereotypical man was known to be physically strong and was to do all the hard labor, such as, hunting, chopping wood, plumbing, and to provide the family with all their needs. Atlas’ body is the ideal media physique that everyone dreams for as well as women. When such advertising is displayed for the public, people tend to think and be more cautious and aware of what they eat. However, men and women in today’s society took the ideal image to a whole new step by having more defined and visible arms, legs, abs, and back provided by the fitness industry, as where as, more varieties of supplements, personal trainers, more selections of proper foods, and choosing the right diet for each specific individual. Whereas being visibly fit and having the stereo-type image does not necessarily mean they have a good health. Men and women can be seen as a perfect image but when it comes to reality, the immune system is weak, the body does not have the proper nutrition, the mind is not functioning the proper way, high levels of anxiety and depression also becoming easily stress throughout the day, when the intake of proper nutrition tends to decrease. Whereas Atlas’ bodybuilding program, “dynamic tension,” in which individual muscles and muscle groups were pitted against each other in a series of exercises. In the year of 1921 he had competed in a bodybuilding contest at Madison Square Garden in New York City and became the world’s most developed man of his time. Since Atlas revealed his self-esteem and his strong physique to American males, as well as women, he affected men by constantly thinking if they looked physically built and attractive in public and in the media.
