ROBERT FROST

?Mending Wall?, written by Robert Frost has one central idea supported by many devices. The central idea is whether we as people should continue to line with walls, boundaries, limitations or we should resent all bonds and be proactive to see the downfall of any barrier. One devices used is hyperbole. For example, ?And spills the upper boulders in the sun,? no wall reaches the sun. This just shows us people live with walls so high they don?t even know their neighbors. Another device is tone. For example, ?He is all pine and I am apple orchard.? The author starts a different attitude. Thus, two people are different but can bring do

. . .

One device Robert uses is metaphors. Another device Frost uses is personification. Everyone has choices they must make, and you can?t achieve all your aspirations and goals, you must pick and choose. The main ides is that one should take time to appreciate one?s surroundings while still fulfilling their responsibilities. ?my little horse must think it queer to stop without a farmhouse near. An example, ?Whose woods these are I think I know, his house is in the village though. He uses devices through out his poem to illustrate his theme.

In ?The Road not Taken,? by Robert Frost, he uses several elements of poetry to support his theme. Likewise, we can?t always see what is ahead of us in life, and we must continue to travel on. Showing us the road actually wanting some as a person would. For example, ?Two Roads in a yellow wood. ? Showing a horse as a person stopping just because he must take time to appreciate his surroundings while he is on his path.
