Breaking the Stereotype and relavene to Black Professions

             Since blacks have been in America we have been the victims of the most vile, and dehumanizing stereotypes and labels, the world has to offer. Education or miseducation of black children, internal and external conflict (factors) dealing with black people, systematic oppression and institutional issues, and black professional play an important role in breaking stereotypes amongst the black race. As a up and coming black professional, I feel there is need for this topic to be research, so that I can help along with other young professionals to beak the cycle of vicious negative stereotypes about the African-American race. For change to take place we must first understand the problems and face realities, yet we must not feed into lies and labels about us. We need to stop playing the victim and stand up for ourselves. We must do something professional and intellectual to change our circumstances in a positive way and help break the cycle of stereotypes.
             First education plays an important role in dismembering the stereotypes of black students. "Black student are lazy", "Blacks can't write or speak proper English", "Blacks student are slow than white", are some common stereotypes often heard about black students. The question is are we slow, or lazy, or is it were not being taught in our school properly. It is also often said that we can't pass standardized test such as the ACT and SAT, but research often shows that our schools are ill-equipped in teaching minority student. A nationwide study showed by the time a minority student reaches the 8th he is at about three grades behind other students. There is a 15 point achievement gap between white children and black children in every state. This is an American catastrophe because black and white children are supposed to be given an equal education, yet statistics and research shows this is not happening.
