A woman that helped her family fight poverty and other domestic problems during this time period was Walter’s wife, Ruth. He figured out that he could not raise his family up from poverty alone and he soon had to seek strength in uniting with his family. He believes that he would make a desirable profit from the store. Mama’s only dream that she wished was to own her own home with a garden of her own. Many of his actions turned out to be mistakes that soon hurt the family enormously. She always stood up for her beliefs and she set a prime example for her following generations. He believes that she should be more supportive of him. Should she keep the child or have an abortion? She was a significant character that helped mold the family in the way they acted and behaved. She was the head of the Younger household and she challenged the family to respect themselves and take full pride in their personal dreams. He soon relieved that buying a house was more important than any other decision. After spending the money she gave Walter the rest. Her dreams were not very complicated and she hoped one day that Walter and her could provide more opportunities for their son. This produced complications with her husband.
