Bilingual Education

New laws affecting bilingual education and its influence in students "Why do we have to change our culture and life style for people who claim they want to be Americans," said a writer from a Texas newspaper (Crawford 13). Exploring the role of bilingual education in non- English speaking students and the impact of new laws affecting bilingual programs, will prove that eliminating these strategies are hurtful for the learning of most immigrant students. In order to understand bilingual education history, it is important to define it. Some bilingual education programs encourage the development of two languages and other programs may incorporate student's first language to facilitate a quick and easy transition into English (Johnson 5). New laws concerning bilingual education have impacted students in many ways. These laws were mainly enforced in elementary schools.
