             Becoming a mother has been my most memorable experience. I had nausea and dizzy spells but I didn't know why. I was seventeen years old and eleven weeks into my first trimester when I found out that I was pregnant. The thought of telling my mother seemed unbearable. When I finally told her she was very upset, but she eventually accepted the fact that I was about to be a mother. I was very excited about having a baby, but the baby's father was not.
             At thirty one weeks I started having complications and went into premature labor. The pain was very severe. It felt as if a long needle was being pushed slowly through my abdomen and even when I soaked in a tub of warm water the pain didn't end. When I felt I could not endure the pain any longer, my mother took me to the hospital. I was scared when I arrived at the hospital because I knew something was wrong. The hospital smells made me even sicker. After I checked into the hospital, I was taken to a room that had many different types of equipment. One machine was put on my abdomen to determine if I had been having contractions, and I was having contractions. Next I was examined to see how much my cervix had dilated. After the examination, the doctor decided to admit me.
             A nurse started an I.V, and I was given pain medication and something to help with dehydration. The medication did not work immediately. I was in terrible pain for several hours. Several tests such as an amniocentesis and an ultrasound were done. Also my blood was drawn for other analyses. At this point I was anxious about the fate of my baby. Would my child make it? Finally, the nurse came into the room and said that everything was fine with me and my baby. I was told that I could go home and the doctor prescribed bed rest.
