Why I am interested in Medicine
During my sophomore year in High School I had no plans on going to college or University. All of that changed during my junior year when I joined FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology). FIRST gave me a chance to work with teachers, students and engineers. Through FIRST I became self confident and I started believing in myself. I saw a lot of improvement in my grades and I became interested in Science and Technology. In fall of 2002 I became the first person from my family to go to college. In summer of 2003, I decided to volunteer at Children Hospital of Austin.
I am interested in learning how human body functions and finding cure for diseases. One thing is for sure that I want to become a doctor not for the money or job security but I want to become a doctor because this is where my heart is and this is what I want to do for the rest of my life. The main reason I want to become a Doctor is not only to help people but because I am interested in learning about medicine. I was able to volunteer in the recovery room, where I worked with Doctors, Nurses and Patient coming out of surgery. That night I went home and I thought about what Dr. To the person reading this essay, if you were to ask me the same question that Dr. I would give you a different answer because after thinking about what Dr. Lopez told me that it is very important for me to know that in the hospital there is no job that is too big or small for anyone. He also asked me "Why did I want to become a Doctor?" My reply back to him was "I want to help people".
