NEW YORK IBIZA Voyage Plan
This is a hypothetical voyage plan I had to do on my 1/C training cruise May through July '99. Waypoints and mercator sailings not included. While evaluating the best route for this voyage we had to consider a route that would allow the ship to sail easy with good weather and would save time as well. This is important since the ship would be doing weekly runs. After considering the above a course of 072.2T from the sea buoy was chosen. At a speed of 15 knots it would take 8 days, 18 hours, and 53mins. to cross the Atlantic and meet the time of arrival to Ibiza, Balearic Islands at 0453 26 May. ETA to the final destination will be approximately 1700 on 9 June. Attached is a comprehensive list of the waypoints that the ship will follow during its voyage. The waypoints have been chosen after meticulously checking at the charts. While plotting the waypoints on the charts special attention was paid to shallow areas, CPA's to land and whenever possible terrestrial aids to navigation were used for course changes. The AMVER report was prepared before setting sail and would be sent 24 hours from departure and updated every 24 hours, refer to the sample page to see a sample of Sai
The pilot will then be deployed by calling in the arrival of the vessel on VHF channel 16 with one hour in advance. Upon arriving to the traffic separation schemes the channel is more open and the vessel would be able to cruise at a speed of 12kts. During the transit of the coastal approach into the islands there will be areas of shallow waters (9m) and therefore is important that the quartermaster on duty is experienced and very well aquatinted with the particulars of the vessels particulars as to safely navigate the ship for the approach. Current would not affect the safe transit of the vessel and we will have a Pilot aboard who has been hired as a navigational advisor. The pilot to be commissioned must be called within 24 hours on VHF Radio channel 16, with the estimated time of arrival of the vessel. The dates will be indicated at the bottom of the WP list. The main port can accommodate vessels with drafts up to 9m. Quarantine is also observed and a copy of the port regulations is to be kept on board the vessel while in port, a copy can be obtain from the harbor police or port agent. Therefore, the departure date and time will remain at 1000 on 15 May. Services include navigation, electrical equipment, longshore, electricity, steam, provisions, water fuel oil, diesel oil, deck, engine, medical facilities, degauss, garbage disposal, dirty ballast. Upon arrival into the port of Florida, new drafts were determined and posted on the attacked sheet. Once the vessel is abeam to port of the Sea Buoy "RW" the speed would be increased to the cruising speed of 15knots. Dade county port authority requires the assistance of the pilot. There are also plenty of recon buoys to check the direction of the vessel, for the approach. Before entering the port is advisable to have a Derat certificate available and Pratique is also required.
