On My Life in PInk
Honestly, I don't know how I would react if ever I become a father of boy like Ludovick. One thing is for sure that I will not make him feel like he is a failure to the family. If ever he makes some foolish innocent mistake, he will surely be reprimanded but, he will not be treated as a stranger to the family, even to the point that he sort of "disgraces" the family. Even if he becomes a shame to the family, we will accept it and move on. Just like anyone who trips down, we, as a family, will stand up and continue with our lives. If anyone opposes it and makes fun about it, I'll pity them because they're lives are just stuck on the fact that my son made an innocent mistake. They didn't learn something from that mistake, and the worst thing is, they didn't even see the shame that they are bringing themselves. If ever I become a father of a boy like Ludovick, he will surely be loved, no matter what others say, no matter what they do, my son will always be my son. He came from his parents, and I will make sure that he will be taken care of by them.
It is not bad to become gays or lesbians; it's just what our society portrays. If Ludovick was raised up to become a boy, why did he want to be a girl at a very young age? Does this mean that we have a priori knowledge? Is it possible to have knowledge before birth? Does the movie suggest that we have a destiny to follow, like Ludovick's suggestion that God forgot to place another X in his chromosomes. We should respect and try to understand and accept what others like to become. I don't know either why did Chris'/Christine's mom called Chris/Christine Christine. It's somehow wrong to judge people by their looks or what their name really is. The movie says that it is wrong to judge the people by labeling them as someone that is bad. I think, the lesson that the movie is trying to give us is that we should inherit a positive thinking towards gender preference. Men are attracted to the color pink, and so maybe the film really focused on a journey of a boy who wants to be a girl, but is destined to become a "girlboy" My Life in Pink basically shows the value of human emotions and freedom, but a question bothered me during the film. However, when Chris' mother yelled Christine, a quick realization hit me that Chris is a girl. Maybe it was only Chris'/Christine's preference to be masculine. But I think that gays and lesbians are more human than those stereotyping heterosexuals, because gays and lesbians know how to think and act according to what they want, not afraid of the consequences that our gendered society is throwing at them. Maybe Chris/Christine is a boy but Chris'/Christine's mom want Chris/Christine to be a girl, or the other way around. The title itself suggests that it is a feminine life, like Legally Blonde, but according to some Psychoanalysts, pink is a man's color. I know that I made a quick improper judgment on the gender of Chris/Christine but I'm not in the right position to tell whether Chris/Christine is, biologically, a boy or a girl. It was not stated in the story whether Chris/Christine is a boy or a girl.
