King Lear
English without grammar, math without numbers is like a place without happiness. Happiness is a state of well being with emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy and without happiness there is no life. By Aristotle's definition, "Happiness is the meaning and the purpose of life, the whole aim and end of human existence." It is a sense of a pleasant feeling that takes our life to a entirely higher level. In fact, Aldous Huxley uses "happiness" in his sinister novel Brave New World, but the happiness he develops throughout the story is an unusual one. It is a kind of happiness that people don't have naturally, but instead distributed. It is a kind of happiness that doesn't improve life, but rather takes away from the characters. Huxley portrays happiness as a veil of acquiring instantaneous gratification of desires that conceals the truth from the society. The World State that Huxley depicts is a utopian government that completely depends on promoting social stability. In order to encourage this alleged stability, the government has to obtain total control of its citizens and bring them to such a pathetic position where the citizens lose their basic personal freedom. Soma is a universally well-known drug that gives them a monotonous, foolish happiness and is their driving force to have sex. The happiness that the people are thinking that they have is not really happiness, but their choice of getting what they desire like food, sex, clothes, drugs and other sport items. In some desperate positions, it also leads them to death. It does opposite of happiness-bringing death and sadness. Soma is a depressant that has completely taken control of their brains; lack of soma makes their brain go crazy and act like savages. On the other hand, it doesn't provide with more happiness when excess is taken. But they shouldn't be happy about this "happiness" because they are actually being deprived of the great things like art, Christianity (belief in God), and relationship between people in a family or a society and left in a dark room of ignorance. When they "get to choose between happiness and what people use to call high art, [they] sacrifice the high art" because they are sure that they can compensate this by going to the feelies (sexual movies that uphold stability) and the scent organ. " This shows that soma is an ubiquitous drug and people have it to initiate their hedonistic feelings. " The main idea of stability is to always go forward and never look back. intimidates Bernard by telling him that he (DHC) will send Bernard to Iceland but Bernard thinks as a joke and leaves. The characters derive happiness from a narcotic called soma, going to the "feelies", and playing games like Obstacle Golf. Moreover, Shakespearean books are full of emotions like love and death that have the power to imbue feelings through people's heart and thus make citizens rebel against stability.
