Animal Farm

Animal Farm is a book masterfully written by the author George Orwell. The book is a mimicry of communist Russia from 1917 to 1942 and there are many examples of this. This book tells about the animals rise to power by overthrowing Mr. Jones and taking control of the farm. The animals on the farm feel that they are the slaves of Mr. Jones the farmer. They feel that they are being overworked and poorly fed. Old Major stirs the animal's feelings of rebellion and creates a plan to overthrow Mr. Jones. Old Major is the equivalency of Lenin and Karl Marx. He is Karl Marx because of his idea for the proletariat working class to rise up and take over. The horse Boxer represents the hard working proletariat class in the book. Old Major was Lenin because of his idea that after Mr. Jones was gone, the animals would work for themselves and all would be equal. No animal would go unfed, there would be plenty of good land, and the animals would have peace between themselves. He teaches the animals a song called "Beasts of England" which is based on these beliefs of how they will live after they are their own masters. This is basically Lenin's promise of "Land! Peace! Bread!" Old Major changes the name of Manor Farm to Animal Farm. T

The chickens were not happy with this because selling the eggs would kill the baby chickens inside. This set them back around 250 years and ever since they have been struggling to bounce back from that. At the end of the story while the pigs are playing cards and drinking whiskey with the humans, the other animals look inside the house at the pigs. The battle of stalingrad is equal to Fredericks attack on Animal Farm which is easy to tell because of all the similarities in the battle. To get rid of personal enemies he would accuse them of being agents of Trotsky, plotting with foreign countries, sabotaging the economy, or wanting to restore capitalism. Napoleon does something similar to this. Also, Animal Farm adopted a flag that they used. The idea of the windmill on Animal Farm was to rapidly change the farm, give the animals less work to do, and increase their technology by giving them electricity and other things to make life easier. The animals were appalled by this but Napoleon had set up an uneasy peace with that farm. The Animal's flag was later turned all green just as the Soviet's flag was turned all red. His skull is placed on a stump for all animals walking by to pay their respects, much like how Lenin's body was preserved for the Russians to pay their respects. The dogs are the secret police and in reality dogs are used in the police force and military. Also, the soviet flag was similar to the Animal Farm flag. It was a green flag with a picture of a hoof and a horn.
