The Visible Man "Ralph Ellison" There have been many great writers who have had impact upon the world inwhich we live. Among the best of them, in my opinion, is Ralph Ellison. Ralph Waldo Ellison was born March 1, 1914, in Oklahoma City, OK to LewisAlfred (a construction worker and tradesman) and Ida (Millsap) Ellison. Ellison wasraised in a cultural atmosphere that encouraged self-fulfillment. After studying jazz andclassical music from 1933 to 1936 at Tuskegee Institute, Ellison traveled to New York
