Anitgone
It's questionable whether or not Antigone made the right decision by disobeying Creon tobury her brother. I think in part that she made the right decision primarily because those in commandaren't always right, lives were at stake, and finally the laws made by the Gods are more important than My first reason supporting Antigone's decision is those in command aren't always right. A King is a ruler of a society of people that has juristrictions to it's geography. Sure a king might be viewed moreworthy than a commoner, but one important idea to keep in mind is that all people are created equal. Thelaws made by a king are most often those which are best for the people under command. But to make alaw not to bury a certain individual, especially one's own brother. Antigone felt she had to bury herbrother as she said, "Creon buried our brother Eteocles with military honors, gave him a funeral, and itwas right that he should; but Polyneices, w
The laws created by a king are important to follow in a society otherwise that society would fall into thearms of anarchy. If not her brothers life then hers, the burial ritesguaranteed to each individual were very important. Antigone felt that the afterlife was more important than their life lived on earth, because a lifeon earth is limited but their afterlife was for all eternity. Antigone killed herself as a result, becauseCreon sentenced her into captivity and his plan was to starve her. ------------------------------------------------------------------------**Bibliography**antigone by: william shakespeare. Maybe her death came out of her action, but still her strong belief in the laws of the Gods wasright. But if Antigone didn't break Creon's law and bury her brother, the ritual of buryingthose who has died would have been thought of as redundant. My third reason is that the laws made by the Gods are more important than those made by a king. She couldn't let her brother wander the earth forall eternity for a law Creon made out of anger towards Polyneices. So she disobeyed Creon's law and buried her brother anyway. So to defy the law saved Polyneices afterlife and maybe others that were to follow. " Antigone was forbidden to buryPolyneices, but what could she do, one of the holiest law required the performance of certain burial rites. Others would also be left to wander because of Creon'sneglect. To stand back and take a look at the power of a king compared to the power of a God would be ludicrous. Antigone hung herself before Creoncould starve her.
