It's questionable whether or not Antigone made the right decision by disobeying Creon tobury her brother. I think in part that she made the right decision primarily because those in commandaren't always right, lives were at stake, and finally the laws made by the Gods are more important than My first reason supporting Antigone's decision is those in command aren't always right. A King is a ruler of a society of people that has juristrictions to it's geography. Sure a king might be viewed moreworthy than a commoner, but one important idea to keep in mind is that all people are created equal. Thelaws made by a king are most often those which are best for the people under command. But to make alaw not to bury a certain individual, especially one's own brother. Antigone felt she had to bury herbrother as she said, "Creon buried our brother Eteocles with military honors, gave him a funeral, and
Many people who were to follow in death would be left withouta burial. Nevertheless if one has gone without a burial they would be left to wanderthe earth . Antigone loved him and made adecision she felt in her heart was right. Antigone killed herself as a result, becauseCreon sentenced her into captivity and his plan was to starve her. She couldn't let her brother wander the earth forall eternity for a law Creon made out of anger towards Polyneices. I think if a king, a king with flesh and a heart and all thecharacteristics of a simple human being, were to cross into a law made by a God, that all persons shouldnot hesitate to break a King's law into following the law created by a God. In conclusion, I believe that Antigone was right for disobeying Creon. " Antigone was forbidden to buryPolyneices, but what could she do, one of the holiest law required the performance of certain burial rites. Antigone felt that the afterlife was more important than their life lived on earth, because a lifeon earth is limited but their afterlife was for all eternity. The laws created by a king are important to follow in a society otherwise that society would fall into thearms of anarchy. Because she endangered her life in doing so. On the other hand maybe Antigone shouldn't have disobeyed Creon and went to bury her brotherPolyneices. So to defy the law saved Polyneices afterlife and maybe others that were to follow. itwas right that he should; but Polyneices, who fought as bravely and died as miserably- They say thatCreon has sworn no one shall bury him, no one mourn for him. ------------------------------------------------------------------------**Bibliography**antigone by william shakespeare.
