Hinduism and Christianity
All religions seek the same truth. They all try to help man understand his place in this confusing and often tragic world. Followers search for the answers to life's questions in the comforts of faith in a particular religion, but how those religions provide for their followers differs greatly from one to another. Christianity and Hinduism come from vastly different traditions. Although these values and traditions seem to be unique to each religion, how distinct are these religions when it comes down to worshiping GOD?Both Hinduism and Christianity are both universal religions. In both of these great religions we leave real freedom of choice in worship, in approaching that One Supreme Entity, that we call God. Hinduism has many deities, ranging from 1,000 to 33 million gods, but all of them are just manifestations or symbols of the only Absolute, and there are different ways to know and serve the only 'Brahman' or 'The Father'. The 3 manifestations of Brahman, have some similarities with the Christian "Holy Trinity": Brahma is like the Father; Krishna, like the Son, Jesus Christ
However, if they look deeper into their own religion and religious tradition, they might find that these are not so foreign after all. This doctrine of the Trinity is not found explicitly in the Christian Bible. Although Hinduism is traditionally a polytheistic religion, each God is a part of the larger absolute entity of God. Even in Hinduism, which readily admits the existence of the universal soul and the ability of all things to come together, the doctrine is not easily understood or accepted in actual practice. However Christianity is a monotheistic religion that has one God divided into three "persons" - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Christians are usually not comfortable with some of the foreign concepts introduced by Hinduism, like reincarnation, karma, and dharma. " This can be compared to the 'Ten Commandments' which both convey tolerance, compassion, respect, humility, and to not harm other people or to commit evil acts and harbor evil thoughts. Therefore Christianity can be perceived as a polytheistic religion, just as Hinduism can be seen as a monotheistic religion. But the Bible condemns any kind of polytheism, the adoration of anything or anybody besides the only God, because that any gods that are not God, are idols or devils. ------------------------------------------------------------------------**Bibliography**. The mystery is the same in both religions. Hinduism stresses the right way of living, this is known as "dharma.
