Jamaica

Jamaica is well know for it's ganja also know in the United States as marijuana and dread locks but there's more to this little island than you could ever dream. You can go snorkeling in crystal clear blue water in the day or at night listen to the steel drum band play while you sip on coconut rum. A few of their main income is from tourism, fruit exports, and the bartering of bauxite. But despite all these wonderful attributes Jamaica is about 4,411 square miles of mountains with a population of around 2.5 million. Out of the 2.5 million about 75 percent of Jamaica's population is living in Kingston, which is Jamaica's capital city. The crime rate increases every day because of politics and high poverty level in the inner cities. Because of the vas variety of ethnic groups that lives in Jamaica it has become a melting pot of many races. The Rasta religion is well known around the world because of individuals like Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, and many others Rastafarians. Jamaica's major tourist attractions are located on the northern coast of Jamaica. The Rastafarian religion, Selassie is not considered a god but a man of strong faith and for this it has made him an icon in the Rasta community. By mining Bauxite which is a mineral high in aluminum, Jamaica has been able to produce there own aluminum for domestic purposes and also export. The city of Kingston comes alive with fire works and all night parties for a week. Sun Splash is a one week long event filled with reggae music from the old school reggae to the new popular Dancehall music (reggae/rap music) that is very popular today. One reason people are killed everyday is because of the color clothes they are wearing, red is for one political party and green for the other party. Kingston is the capital of Jamaica and also the most populated, with the country's most commercial and industrial jobs. Children are now walking around with automatic weapons to defend themselves from other gangs. The laws are the same as the United States but there are fewer officers to uphold the laws. As these children become men and women the only thing they know is violence and that's the way 80 percent of the country's population as grown up, that's why the country has a high crime rate. If you vote for a particular party member of the opposing party may try and kill you. The electoral process is another factor that affects the crime rate. The freshest and best cooked fish can be found in Port Royal, this is an island broking from Jamaica by a major Earthquake in 1692. The bananas and sugar Cain industry has helped to build Jamaica's economy over the years. Tourism is Jamaica's main source of income because it is a tropical location, but there is also sugar Cain, banana and bauxite generated all the income. For a male growing up in the ghetto your average life expectancy is 21 years of age unless you are one of the lucky ones who get a change to leave Jamaica or get a academic scholarship.
