Only a Memory Away
Sometimes memories are all you have of someone or something from long ago. Some memories fade and some lie dormant never to be remembered again. Although, once and a while something will impact your life so greatly, that you will never forget. These memories are easily accessible and never quite so far away. The morning sun peeked through the blinds to acknowledge its presence. The room was mostly dark and the silhouettes were beginning to take their daytime forms. The air in the room cast achill on my bones and warned me to stay in bed. I ignored this warning and made my way to the bathroom to get an early start. The others were still a sleep as I was alone to my thoughts. This was the last day I was going to see him, I did not want to waste a By seven A.M., two cars were packed with my best girlfriends on route to pick up the guys. I leaned against the window and stared blankly at the passing trees and foliage. Washington was beautiful, but I wanted to be wherever he was. This haven for evergreen was only temporary. My constant breath was beginning tofog the window and I used my sleeve to reveal the outside once
It was quite funny, that a bunch of amateurs beat the top players on our schools team! Every one was a good sport and sat down to rest and eat for a while. As the light grew further west in the sky, the game came to an exciting end. I could not stop time,or the impending destiny that lay ahead. The red car pulled up the driveway and I met Graham's eyes instantly and smiled. Everyone chose a desert and then piled back into the vehicles. Finally, we rested on the sand to watch the copper sun disappear beyond the horizon. Graham reminded me that the stars were still there and shining even more brightly than ever before. I knew I would see everyone else at least till the end of the summer; I would only see Graham until the end of the night. The night was dampened as we headed for the airport. The engines were restarted andour next destination was a beach in Seaside, Oregon. We chatted and gossiped, as we found our way to the others. The clouds had moved in and the shine of a singlestar could not be seen. When we got to Graham and his friend's terminal, it was just in time for departure.
