In my sleep, I had this dream; well actually a nightmare, where my best friend is slowly
leaving me as I run towards him. This is all came true two years ago. I grew into a
loving family, my parents brought me up real well; and having a Korean heritage, my
parents taught me the value of hard work and education. So when I first started school I
studied as hard as I can to please my parents I made many sacrifices along the way the
hardest one was losing a best friend that is not like any other. I never got the chance to
make many friends with all my school work, but when I met mike there was no need for
any other friends. I believed that me and him would grow up and talk about our lives as
adults together. Mike, the best friend I've ever had, changed me.
Mike came to my school in the seventh grade, and we immediately became
friends. Before he came, I felt like an outcast, as I had no friends in the school.
However, until Mike, I never had anyone my age to talk. Mike made me feel confident in
who I was; he reaffirmed my goals. At this stage in our lives, we found appreciation in
each other we both were obsessed by movies, had a similar sense of humor and had the
same problems. We quickly became the best of friends. Halfway through that year, Mike
and I became inseparable. In fact, in our yearbook we were voted, "friends that were
never seen without each other." I became a regular at his house and him at mine. We slept
over at each others houses that we no longer had to ask our parents if it was OK to have a
sleepover on weekends. On weekdays, we usually walked over to his house, which was
near school, and hung out there till I had to go home. Our favorite past time when we
didn't have any school was to get a bag of chips and two 24 oz. Coca-Colas. Watching a
