narrative
I have been visiting the same doctor for the majority of my life. He is the physician for my dad's union, so it does not cost anything to visit him. His name is Raymond Lyght, but I have always known him as Dr. Ray. He does not follow the stereotype of a doctor at all. I do not think that I have ever seen him be serious for a moment in his life, which is probably why he works so well with kids. In addition, he works great with teenagers and older people too. I remember on the visit before last he told me one of the funniest dirty jokes I have ever heard. I remember one time when he gave my brother a high five behind my mother's back because he had a hicky on his neck. No one ever looks forward to seeing their doctor, except me, my brothers, and probably most of his other patients. I had always hoped that if I became a doctor, I would be as cool as he is. Dr. Ray is a very talkative person and he is always quite interested in how his patient's lives are progressing. On this particular visit he wanted to know everything about how college was going, if the parties were good, and if the girls were hot? I assured him my classes were going great and I was going to try and keep my grades up. I
He went on to tell me that he lost his scholarship his sophomore year, and subsequently he quit school. He explained how in med school he had to memorize what seemed like, and sometimes was, a hundred pages of information almost every night. " He was working in the food court at St. Ray still didn't know exactly what he wanted to do, but he knew he needed the college education. I began to wonder how his life took such a drastic change. Ray had quit his job at the food court. For whatever reason I did end up going back to school that fall. "I wasn't partying too much any more, just working, a lot, and for too little money. Ray could have gone on forever about the subject but he is a very busy man, and he knew that he did not have forever. " By about halfway through his second year the idea of trying to get into med-school began to grow.
