In the article "Corporate Censors" the discussion is about businesses putting blocks on their employees Internet use. It is not just that companies are putting blocks on porn sites they are also concerned about employees using the Web to surf the net while they should be working.
             I feel that companies have more than a right to put censors on their employee's computers. They are being paid money to do this job and they should be doing their job not wasting the company's time for their own enjoyment. I know that installing blocking systems or filtering programs is not going to stop people from surfing the net because sites are going up daily. If feel that this is the best way to prevent most workers from going into most sites that they are not supposed to be entering. I will now share a little bit of why I feel that censoring employee's computers is necessary. First, Organizations lose and estimated $50 billion a year in productivity due to employees surfing the web purely out of personal interests. Another shocking statistic I found was that nearly 90% of senior executives surf the web looking for new jobs while they are at work with their current employers. An average worker spends 90 minutes surfing the net at work on company time. This is a ridi!
             culous amount of money and time that is being wasted, when this could all be alleviated by using a blocking system to keep employees away from wasting money that could have been spent more wisely.
             In a newspaper article Arlene Becker is quoted saying "I've done it. It's tempting" People admit to doing this which is pretty sad in my eyes because they realize that they are doing wrong by the companies standards and still they continue to do it, Many companies fire their employees for doing this.
