The Bible and Tatoos
There are many different opinions about tattoos. Some people like tattoos, while others do not. Some believe they are an act of rebellion, others think of it as art. I would like to share my beliefs about a subject that a lot of people think is wrong, based on what they think the Bible says and teaches. Through major studies, with some Christian friends and pastors of mine, about what the Bible says about tattooing and what I believe God really thinks about tattoos, I am going to tell you why I believe Spiritual tattooing isn't against God or the Bible, and will not lead to conviction and judgment in the life to come. First I would like to establish the Bible as the book of law and morals. Isn't it strange that many of our nation's "Founding Fathers" thought that the Bible was needed to guide this young nation, but today many feel differently? George Washington said this, "It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible." (1) George Washington was not alone in his belief, as Thomas Jefferson was quoted saying this, "I have always said and always will that the studious perusal of the Sacred Volume (Bible) will make better citizens, better fathers, better husbands...the Bible makes the best people in
It was an attempt to make one worthy through self-torture. " (1 Kings 18:28) Deuteronomy 14:1-2, says "You are the children of the LORD your God, do not cut yourselves or shave the fronts of your heads for the dead, for you are a person holy to the LORD your God. I came into this project seeking the truth and I believe I got what I was looking for. Therefore we have learned that by being tattooed we are not doomed to hell as some people think and teach, but we have a loving God who understands the things we do and why we do them. " (1) The Bible has been apart of American Public Law since October 4, 1982, and is part of the Congressional Record Vol. I believe on the day of judgment I will be judge for many things I have done wrong it my life, but one thing I do not believe I will be judged on is having a spiritual tattoo. First off, this essay is not based on what I think but what the Bible teaches about this subject. Personal example would be I had a good friend named Jade Roberts that went to Branford High, she was in a wreck on March 8, 2004 and she died. This is what brought me and my friends closer to God. Another thing I would like to point out is, when someone dies, you always see people getting stuff on their cars, example in loving memory of so and so, I believe this is wrong, because this is like branding a tattoo into your arm in remembrance of someone. Just because I have a religious tattoo, am I in no way going to twist God's Word to satisfy myself or what I think is right. (1) Now that's taken care of, I want to go back to the main topic of discussion, the Bible and Tattoos. In 1 Kings 18:25-29, it talks about Elijah and his prophets, calling out to the false God Baal from morning till noon, but the false God did not answer, "So they shouted louder and slashed themselves with swords and spears, as was their custom, until their blood flowed.
