The debate between whether or not we were created by some Supreme Being or life itself happened by chance is a very controversial topic that has left many unanswered questions about both sides.
             In the beginning, something happened. Either God created heaven and earth or for some unknown reason, the world exploded in a "big bang" and all matter started to form. For the past 100 years, the argument in western society revolved around the conflict between science and religion over the theory of evolutions.
             Many of the people that have such strong faith in the Bible and its teachings on creation are seeking some sort of scientific evidence to disprove the theory of evolution. Although there is plenty of evidence that shows adaptive changes in a species, we do not, in recorded history, have evidence of one type of animal changing into another type of animal, like evolution suggests.
             This debate has not only effected the general public, but our school systems as well, because right now, teachers at Madison High School are debating the proposition of the Madison School Board candidate Adam Smith. Smith has said that he thinks school should teach creation alongside evolution. Smith is not alone though, an estimated sixty- percent of the American public thinks creation is as good a theory as evolution. The Alabama state textbook commission now requires schools in that state to paste a disclaimer in their biology textbooks stating that evolution is just a "theory" and not a proven fact.
