Not Without My Daughter Vs. Schiendlers' List

             Individuals in society gain power in order, to accomplish their goals. However, it depends on to what degree individuals are willing go to in order to achieve their personnel goal. In the two pieces of literature named Not Without My Daughter and Shindler's List, bold and consistent risks were taken to fulfill both the main characters' ambitions. The main characters in both novels demonstrated a great amount of self-determination and persistence, giving the word ambition a whole new meaning. In the novels Not Without My Daughter by William Hoffer and Shindler's List by Thomas Keneally, the main characters established similar characteristics that resulted in a victorious outcome. Betty Mahmoody and Oscar Shindler both displayed powerful ambition, and revealed it through their courage, intelligence and loyalty, throughout the novel. The protagonist in both fictional stories had certain specific objectives. However, not only did these characters have ambition, but they also had !
             the willpower to turn their dreams into reality. Betty put forth all her effort to return home with her daughter, and Oscar sacrificed everything if it meant saving one life. These are the clear reasons as to why the relationships among these characters are similar, strong and consistent. Both Betty and Oscar were capable of having an ambition, and never giving up on it, no matter of how frightful the circumstances were.
             It was the summer of 1984, in Michigan, United States when Betty Mahmoody, her husband Moody and their four-year-old daughter Mahtob took a trip to the dangerous country of Iran. The purpose of their trip was taken due to the strong passion Moody possessed in visiting his family.
